Nature on the agenda
Nature on the Agenda for Danish Municipalities
With the national agreement Grøn Trepart (the “Green Tripartite Agreement”), municipalities have been given a central role in nature management. Their task is not only to designate new areas for nature but also to ensure these areas thrive and actively contribute to national biodiversity goals. For this to succeed, a clear strategy is essential. Without one, efforts risk becoming fragmented, short-term—or failing to take shape at all.
Upstream Partners has mapped how municipalities currently work with biodiversity strategies, highlighting recurring barriers and offering practical recommendations. These are summarized in an action-oriented checklist to support municipalities in strengthening their efforts.
